Hi Everyone, it’s Kristy from Clearly Legal.

I wanted to talk with you today about the reality that when you hire legal support, you want more than just general knowledge. You want someone (me...) who understands the rules, because when it comes to court filings, hearings, or procedural compliance, a mistake can cost you time and money.

I want to share a bit about my hands-on experience navigating various legal rules and procedures across multiple jurisdictions.

A Track Record of Procedural Proficiency on Legal Rules and Procedures

With over 20 years of legal experience, I am not just familiar with legal processes—I am fluent in them. I have actively used and worked within a broad range of legal rule sets, including:

Ontario

The Courts

  • Rules of Civil Procedure: From pleadings to motions, I have handled files from initiation to enforcement under these comprehensive court rules.

  • Rules of the Small Claims Court: Ideal for lower-value claims, these less voluminous rules still require precision and compliance, of which I have mastered.

  • Estate Law Rules (as part of the Rules of Civil Procedure): I have worked on files where understanding the estate-specific sections of the Rules of Civil Procedure was key.

  • Family Law Rules: While I am not a seasoned family law practitioner, I understand the procedural foundation, especially when legal support overlaps with family-related matters

The Tribunals

  • In my career, I have also spent time with the Rules and Procedures of the tribunals, including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO), Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) and Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT). I have also worked with (back in the day) Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO)

British Columbia

  • Supreme Court Civil Rules: I have had direct exposure to BC’s legal procedures, including document drafting and understanding case progression in BC’s Supreme Court system.

Alberta

  • Alberta Rules of Court: I have worked on matters involving Alberta’s litigation framework and am familiar with its unique caseflow and procedural nuances.

Why This Matters for You

My experience with Ontario has allowed me to quickly learn the rules I have worked with in B.C. and Alberta; and I am confident I will pick up the rest of Canada as easily when you find me. My working knowledge of these diverse legal rule sets means that:

  • For Ontario, you do not have to train or explain—I am already familiar.

  • For the rest of Canada, I am a fast learner thanks to my deep knowledge of Ontario.

  • You reduce the risk of non-compliance, missed steps, or incorrect filings.

  • I can help troubleshoot errors and guide corrections when needed.

  • I can mentor your junior staff or newer legal professionals to bring them up to speed—efficiently and accurately.

Whether you are looking for freelance assistance, mentorship, or procedural troubleshooting, I offer more than legal clerking—I offer confidence, compliance, and clarity.

💡 Why Work With Me? With over 20 years of experience, I know how to navigate pleadings efficiently and effectively. My expertise ensures that filings are accurate, deadlines are met, and nothing gets overlooked — saving you both time and money.
